Shelby Hayes is a background artist living in Los Angeles.

Shelby loves to use color to capture the emotional storytelling of an environment. She is currently the Environment Supervisor for NuBoom Studios, working on projects like Wheels & Roses and Spin Cycle. She has been at this indie studio since its creation and has been building a work culture and animation pipeline along with her fellow leads for 5 years. During these projects she is using storyboards from the team to create backgrounds for TV animation and developing environment concepts to build out the look of the worlds. Previously she was a background artist at ShadowMachine for Ten Year Old Tom on HBO Max where she worked closely with the Art Director to create versatile backgrounds where everything could be moved around, since there were no storyboards to work with. Outside of studio work she takes freelancing contracts and spends her extra free time taking online courses to continue bettering her skills as an artist.
